Out of 36 educators selected across North Carolina and Virginia, Ms. Johnson is one of just five teachers from Eastern NC named to the 2026–27 Kenan Fellows cohort.

West Craven High School
West Craven High School is proud to announce that Austin Arrington has been selected to attend the 2026 Teachers’ Trip to Poland. This program brings North Carolina educators who teach about the Holocaust to an intensive eight-day educational seminar in Poland.
This year, more than 360 teachers applied for just 40 available spots. More than 100 teachers from across North Carolina have participated in the program, representing more than 70 of the state’s 100 counties.
The program is also supported by the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT), which annually funds five teachers to participate in the trip.
West Craven High School congratulates Mr. Arrington on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to hearing about the experience, as well as seeing how the knowledge and insights gained will be integrated into the school’s curriculum.
